Return to Fleet Pond

The next phase of lake restoration work has commenced at Fleet Pond.  This will continue the dredging from the earlier phase this year and construct more lake islands to improve the water quality and enhance the habitat for wildlife and ecology.  Using our specialist long reach machines on floating pontoons, the island construction is well underway and due for completion in November.

Fleet Pond is the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire. It has a rich history and is an SSSI which is at risk of losing its status due to the level of silt and detritus threatening wildlife. Our involvement forms part of their Clearwater Campaign which is largely being achieved through voluntary work.

You can see a short video by their Patron Chris Packham on the Fleed Pond Society site and learn more through the Fleet Pond Blog
