Dredging at Historic Coates Lock

Dredging and reed removal works in 2 areas of the Pocklington Canal in the vicinity of Coates Lock were required to maintain navigability of the channel, reinstating the turning and mooring areas. Situated in a SSSI, with proximity to a lock listed for its heritage interest, these dredging works required careful liaison with Natural England, Listed Building consents and the Canal & River Trust as well as the client throughout. An overhead powerline also had to be considered within the development of the methodology to ensure safety of operations. All works were completed safely and efficiently, minimising the duration of environmental disturbance.
