Winner of International Award

The ICE People’s Choice Award recognises civil engineering projects across the globe that have made a positive impact on their local communities. The announcement of the Award comes as the UK hosts COP 26 and perfectly reflects one of its goals – to ‘Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats’. The National Botanic Garden of Wales Regency Restoration, which took five years to complete at a cost of more than £7 million, is the largest of its kind undertaken in Wales and included several lakes, bridges, dams, cascades, a waterfall, and an extensive network of paths, all set in 300 acres of heritage parkland, rich in flora and fauna. WM Longreach played a key role within the project team as principal contractor on the Regency Restoration, working with a fantastic multi-disciplined project team with dedicated experts in their field. Appreciation of this was demonstrated by the voting public who made this project their ICE People’s Choice winner for 2021. Damian McGettrick, Director, WM Longreach said: “We are exceptionally proud to be part of the passionate project team that delivered the Regency Restoration and thrilled that all our efforts have been recognised internationally by the public in this way.” (photo credit: Jac Towler) The ICE People’s Choice Award recognises civil engineering projects across the globe that have made a positive impact on their local communities.
