Bramshot Wetland Creation

Bramshot Farm Country Park is a Site of Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) created to reduce visitor impact on fragile habitats within the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area in 2017.  This project aimed to improve the habitats and enhance the ecology through the creation of new wetland ponds, drainage structures and the introduction of gravel footpaths, timber boardwalks and raised viewing platforms.  Several rare and mature trees had to be protected and public access and communication managed with the Client.

WM Longreach used their specialist ‘Spider’ and low ground pressure (LGP) excavators to work in the wet areas and using ‘tilt-rotator’ attachments have managed to excavate the new ponds and create the earthwork bunds with great precision.

Working closely with ecologists and the client team to protect the wildlife and ecology ensured that mitigation measures were in place together with open and clear communication of access restrictions to users of this important public space.
