Flood Protection on the River Brue

Specialist long reach equipment and floating plant was brought in to carry out maintenance on a 3km stretch of the River Brue on behalf of the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA). This vegetation management programme involved the removal of tree branches and vegetation from within this flood risk zone of the river. WM Longreach worked closely with the client team, with regular monitoring of ecology and wildlife issues, to ensure that the numerous challenges of bird nesting, water voles and so on were successfully managed. Heavy tidal flows and the restrictions of a flood control gate added to the challenge.
